A musical journey through the decades
It is with great pleasure that Valdinho Langer presents his new album “Beloved Songs and More”, which is in part a personal retrospective of the melodies that have accompanied him over the decades. He has played or listened to many of these songs himself time and again, and the recording of some of these pieces has long been a heartfelt wish.
On the one hand, there is the connection to American folk music and thus, of course, to the legend Woodie Guthrie. For him, “Hobos Lullaby” is one of the master's most beautiful songs. Irish music also has a special place in his heart, which is why he decided to record “Mrs. Mc.Dermott” - an integral part of the repertoire of many prominent Irish bands - again in the studio.
A central part of his musical identity is Latin American music, from which he has chosen a piece from this inexhaustible melting pot. In addition, his love of Greece remains unbroken: Two tracks come from the Anagnostakis album by Mikis Theodorakis, one of the Greek LPs he brought back from his backpacking trips in the Aegean in the 1970s. “A certain amount of enthusiasm was needed,” he recalls.
Four new tracks by Valdinho and one by Karl Schaupp complete the album.
The musical journey continues undeterred, and Valdinho Langer thinks that Joachim Ernst Berendt would still say the same about his music today as he did almost 30 years ago.
The album is available from 28.02.2025 and invites all music lovers to embark on a nostalgic yet exciting journey through the sounds of the world.
